Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get a library card?
Patrons can receive a library card by filling out an online application, printing a copy from home and returning it to the library, or by visiting the library and requesting an application.
New-Library-Card-Application-2024.pdfAdults must show photo identification and proof of residence. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian present, and proof of residence.

Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards.

should be reported immediately. The Library card replacement fee is $2.00.
What are LHPL's overdue fees?
Lincoln Heritage Public Library went fine-free on April 3, 2023.
Will any materials have overdue fines?
Yes. While most of our materials will not have overdue fines, the Library of Things collection will continue to accrue fines if they are not returned on time. The Library of Things contains our mobile hotspots, iPads, Chromebooks, CD players, and laptops. These items are clearly marked that fines will still be charged.
We will still charge replacement cost fees for materials that are 28 days overdue. If an item is 28 days overdue, we assume the item is lost, and the cost to replace the item will automatically be billed to your library account. If the items is brought back in good condition, the replacement cost will be removed, and no fine will be accessed. If the item is not returned, the patron is responsible for the cost of the item, and borrowing privileges may be suspended.
We will also continue to bill for damaged items.
Do you have public computers?
Yes. Computers are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Young adults are not allowed in chat rooms such as Facebook or Myspace. Patrons may sign up for 60 minutes at a time and may request additional time depending on availability. The computers will shut down 10 minutes before the library closes. Children’s tablets have limited internet access.
